Show based on Green Day’s multi-platinum 2004 album will run for 13 nights at legendary West London venue.

-- /EPR NETWORK/ -- A new musical based on Green Day's nu-punk opera ‘American Idiot' is coming to the UK this winter. Following some well-received dates in cities including Glasgow and Birmingham , the show will set up at the Hammersmith Apollo from December 4th until December 16th.

The musical has been garnering rave reviews in the States, with critics variously proclaiming it ‘kick ass' and ‘a physical and visual knockout'. ‘American Idiot', which combines youthful energy with political awareness, has been touring the world on the back of a hugely successful Broadway run.

The show tells the tale of three old friends forced to choose between sticking with the suburban safety net which surrounds them and heading out into the world to pursue their dreams. The New York Times – which can make or break a Broadway show – described it as ‘thrilling, emotionally charged, and as moving as any Broadway musical I've seen this year'.

Combining the music of Green Day – both from ‘American Idiot' and its follow-up ‘21st Century Breakdown' – with a theatrical experience and sets from Tony winner Christine Jones, the show is now in development for a movie helmed by Tom Hanks. Billie Joe Armstrong's politically-charged lyrics, along with the energetic pop-punk score, signal a new era of adventurousness for the Broadway musical, and Londoners are quickly snapping up tickets – whic h cost £26.50-£42.50 – for the experience. Eager fans are advised to book soon to avoid disappointment.

Tickets are available through LondonTown.com, the capital's premier booking and information centre. The site has also announced discounts on a number of London hotels, including a several in convenient proximity to the Hammersmith Apollo.
